The Director, Category Management (Merchandise) plays a critical role in driving the strategic sourcing, distribution, and management of branded merchandise and concession collectible vessels for AMC theatres. By leveraging data and working closely with internal stakeholders, the Director aims to enhance sales performance, minimize waste, and guide future product selection.
This position is based in Leawood, Kansas, with remote eligibility.

What you will be doing:
- Establish a category strategy for merchandise and AMC concession collectible vessels, ensuring a best-in-class total cost of acquisition.
- Develop and implement a distribution strategy for receiving items into a third-party facility and redistributing them to theatres based on anticipated sales.
- Create forecasting tools by utilizing sales and obsolescence data to determine appropriate product quantities to be delivered to theatres.
- Use data to increase sales throughput and reduce waste and obsolescence.
- Analyze sales trends by item category to guide future product selection.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to integrate products and codes into the inventory system and create Point-of-Sale keys.
- 5 years of logistics or procurement experience.
- Experience managing categories with intermediate to high complexity and expenditures, using strategic sourcing principles.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate agreements and lead project-related negotiations.
- Expertise in maintaining best-in-class upfront costs, lead times, and delivery strategies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with vendors to ensure high-quality products and timely delivery.
- Experience managing budgets and forecasting financial impacts of sourcing and distribution strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a track record of successfully partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Senior Professional in Supply Management (SPSM) certified.
- Proven logistics or procurement experience in a large multi-unit operation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute category strategies, lead negotiation, and optimize demand planning and distribution in fast-moving categories.
