Sandblaster – Large Equipment
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sandblaster to clean, prepare, and finish large equipment and machinery surfaces using high-pressure abrasive blasting techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial sandblasting equipment and protective coatings while following safety procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate sandblasting equipment to remove rust, paint, grease, and other contaminants from large equipment surfaces.
- Prepare surfaces for painting or coating by applying appropriate blasting techniques.
- Follow safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear such as respirators, gloves, and coveralls.
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Maintain and clean blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and work areas to ensure proper operation.
- Handle and dispose of blasting materials and waste according to environmental regulations.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, or in outdoor environments as needed.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and coating technicians to ensure project completion.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA safety regulations to minimize hazards.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience as a sandblaster, preferably with large industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with different blasting media (e.g., sand, steel grit, glass beads) and their applications.
- Ability to operate sandblasting and pressure-washing equipment safely.
- Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards.
- Understanding of workplace safety and hazardous material handling.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
- Certification in abrasive blasting or industrial coatings (a plus)
Work Environment:
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, and abrasive materials.
- Requires wearing protective clothing, masks, and respirators.
- May involve working outdoors or in confined spaces under varying weather conditions.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy equipment for extended periods.
