American Public Works Association (APWA) serves professionals in all aspects of public works. The Director of Information Technology leads an IT team of 6 that provides software, hardware and network services for two offices and remote staff. APWA has a Microsoft infrastructure and the association management software is on a Salesforce platform. This position also oversees and plans for the association’s network infrastructure to include disaster recovery, cyber security, and appropriate upgrades. This position is part of the association’s Leadership Team, manages the technology budget and leads the association on the technology related activities in alignment with the association’s strategic plan.

The Director of Information Technology is a key position in the organization by performing the following essential job responsibilities. This position directs and plans integration strategies between Fonteva, Salesforce and 3rd party software integrations to leverage the association’s technology platform for all stakeholders and manages the technical requirements of integration projects including system architecture, implementation, upgrades/maintenance, testing and technical support. Manages the compliance and upgrade process for all software and hardware as part of the network infrastructure as well as communication to all stakeholders. Serves as the primary point of contact and leads the association through any type of Information Technology outage or cyber security incident with key stakeholders from all program areas. Manages the department’s project management plan to include the technology ticketing process, routine maintenance cycle workflows as well as long- term strategic operational activities. Leads the evaluation of new software and hardware as it relates to the overall usefulness and compatibility with existing software and hardware.

Requirements
What You Will Need to Succeed:
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an information technology related degree program
- Experience: A minimum of seven years of applicable experience or an equivalent combination related education and experience
- Supervisory Skills: A minimum of two years in a supervisory role
- Technical Skills: Salesforce, Fonteva, network infrastructure, project management, and WordPress experience as well as certification strongly preferred. Must be highly proficient in using hardware, software and social media to deliver a message.
- Commitment to Service: Must be able to work in a collaborative work environment with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders; have a strategic leadership operational style; be able to plan, set goals and objectives, organize and execute work products individually and as part of a team environment.
- Leadership: the desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and association
- Communication: the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of individuals including volunteers
- Association Experience: working with an association and understanding the customer service needs of members and volunteers.
