TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer Intern
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing Engineering
EXEMPTION STATUS: Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: 901 Broadway Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, and/or 1040 Eastern Ave, Grand Rapids, MI 49508
POSITION SUMMARY: Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work alongside manufacturing engineers to solve complex manufacturing problems, design/implement process improvements and launch equipment as we move our production into a brand-new production facility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Assisting in planning and executing equipment move.
- Launching and validating production equipment.
- Identify waste & utilize Lean methodologies to design/implement process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Assisting in improving welding process/material flow.
- Designing improved packaging processes.
- Creating standard work instructions
- Layout design in AutoCAD.
- Equipment design in SolidWorks.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a student currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Must have ability to work 40 hours/week.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Strong desire to learn, be self-starting and have a hands-on approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Proficient with CAD software - AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks experience a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Time will be mixed between office environment and shop floor.
- Lifting & carrying up to 35 pounds may be required.
- Moderate amounts of movement (standing, twisting/bending etc)
