Position Title: Engineering Intern or Co-Op Student

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
Under the direction of Engineering Supervisor or Manufacturing Engineer, assist engineers with production support and process improvement projects. This will include drafting component / process specifications and protocols, building product prototypes or samples, performing product testing, gathering data and analysis, and contributing to process equipment design and installation.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows all GMP and SOPs as defined by Viant policies, practices, and procedures to insure that FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards are met
Develops working relationship with Value Stream team
Learns and utilizes Lean concepts in daily work
Works independently as required to complete product sample or prototype builds, perform product testing and gather and analyze test data
Works independently as required to draft component and process specifications. Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Engineer (ME), write and execute equipment and process protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ, and FIC) and write change orders (CO), protocols to be edited and approved by Engineers
Assists ME as required to complete component and assembly drawing tolerance stack up analysis, material analysis and contribute to equipment design and support engineering technicians with equipment assembly and installation. May include performing basic machining operations, wiring, plc ladder logic programming and pneumatic, electric or hydraulic circuit construction.
Assists with new product launches and validations
Trouble-shoots machinery used in manufacturing process, assist Technicians
Maintains a project list, recording projects and task completions and sends report to Value Stream Manager weekly
Develops innovations to improve processes and/or resulting in cost savings

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Education:
· Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, bio-medical or electrical engineering
Job Experience:
· 0-1 years engineering internship or co-op experience
Skills/Competencies:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
AutoCad and/or Pro Engineer experience
Physical Requirements:
Frequent lifting up to 25-35 lbs
Moderate amounts of standing, bending, twisting, turning
