What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Conference & Event Services position at American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)?
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the oldest national civil engineering society in America, is currently seeking an experienced conference planning professional to provide conference management and operational support for the successful implementation and production of Society conferences.
Responsibilities include:
- Mentoring staff, strategic planning, budget management, speaker management, exhibit and sponsorship management, volunteer committee staff liaison
- Pre-conference logistics management (including the creation of the meeting specifications and communication of conference requirements, and updating web)
- Implementation of conference management timelines
- Planning and executing site visits
- Implementation of marketing campaigns (including campaign timeline, working with designers, distribution of collateral materials, and tracking response rates)
- Maintaining and updating website conference information, sales and sponsorships
- On-site conference management (including vendor management such as a/v, catering, housing, tours, special events, and other vendors as appropriate to the conference)
- Compiling and analyzing post conference feedback and closeout, tracking statistical data, and creation of final reports
Ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 5-7 years conference planning experience
- Association experience and CMP certification a plus
- Volunteer management experience
- Demonstrated success working with housing services
- Experience working with abstract or paper management systems
- Excellent communication, writing, & proofreading skills
- A thorough command of MS Office & experience with AMS/CRM platforms
- A desire and willingness to travel
