POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Training Programs is a key member of the Training department management team and oversees training and trainee education programs provided to hematology trainees. The Senior Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Training department which includes analyzing and improving departmental processes, productivity and efficiency of the team. The Senior Manager is also responsible for overseeing existing trainee programs, services, and education while developing and implementing new programs and services designed to support pre-medical and graduate students, residents, fellows, pre- and post-docs, and program directors within the field of hematology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Duties in Support of ASH’s Training and Trainee Education Programs :
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the department which includes analyzing and improving departmental processes, productivity and efficiency of the team.
- Assist the Deputy Director of Training with the development and management of the department’s $2.5M operating budget.
- Oversees the execution and growth of the following training and education programs (i.e. the ASH Annual Meeting Trainee Services and Activities including ASH-a-Palooza, the Fundamentals for Hematology Fellows (FHF), the ASH In-Service Exam, SCD Away Elective Rotation, Teaching Cases, and the Hematology Review Series)
Supervises the Manager of Trainee Programs and Services in the coordination of program logistics, such as preparing written materials, scheduling planning calls, and organizing webinars
In collaboration with the Programs Evaluation Team, creates and disseminates program evaluations and summarizes resultsLeads calls with member leaders to develop content, curriculum, and faculty selectionPrepares written annual grant reportsIn collaboration with the operations team, tracks program expenses and manages budgets for all training and education servicesServes as a staff liaison to the Trainee Council, Test Materials Development Subcommittee, Hematology Review Series Working Group (and respective working groups and task forces) to strategize, prioritize and execute goalsManages and executes subcommittees / Working Groups goals and priorities, including the nomination process for new membersPrepares program updates and writeups for approval by ASH leadershipDelivers remarks and presentations regarding ASH’s training and education programs at internal and external meetings and eventsWork with the Deputy Director of Training to strategize and implement Committee on Training initiatives and prioritiesSupervises the Manager of Trainee Program and Services in the following tasks :
Developing and executing the ASH Hematology Review SeriesDeveloping and executing the ASH Teaching CasesDeveloping and executing the FHF and In-Service Exam ProgramsDeveloping and executing Trainee Council projects including Hearts of Hematology, HCEP, and priorities of the Global Hematology Working GroupOther Job Duties :
Supervises, trains, and provides support to the Manager of Trainee Programs & ServicesSupports Training Department initiatives when neededCollaborates with the ASH Communications department on the development and delivery of career development program marketingMaintains policies and standards for each of the career development programsEnsures career development web pages are kept currentManages the content development of meeting agendas and materials. Ensures the accurate maintenance of departmental databases in Personify and Salesforce, handling some confidential informationAttends and supports ASH-sponsored meetings and events outside of normal working hours (evenings and / or weekends), including the ASH Annual Meeting.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, public health, adult education, instructional design, or other related fieldA minimum of 7 years of program management experienceDetail-oriented, with excellent organizational and follow-through skillsExperience and proficiency in the use of databases; working knowledge of Personify and Salesforce preferredExcellent customer service skills including ability to deescalate problems with a calm demeanor, diplomacy, and humor (when appropriate)Ability to effectively collaborate with others, demonstrating role model behaviorsExcellent oral and written communication skills including active listening and ability to synthesize information from diverse audiences (i.e., colleagues, members, and volunteers)Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPointStrong customer service orientationExperience in handling confidential informationPrior experience in a not-for-profit environment preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
