POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Cultural Programs Assistant is responsible for preparing & delivering engaging, educational, and fun interactive experiences, public programs, and special events on a variety of food, handcraft and arts related topics for ASI audiences. This position supports program experiences on Thursday evenings, Sundays and weekends and must be available for regular shifts during those times as well as occasional event support as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with delivering and hosting in person and virtual educational experiences for adults and families.
- Prepare and produce recipe ingredients and craft supplies for demonstrations and classes as directed.
- Maintain and prepare classroom spaces and equipment before and after programs.
- Host virtual programs over Zoom and provide technical assistance to students and instructors.
- Assist the Program Department with program evaluation and continually seek improvement opportunities for programs and events.
- Support all staff, instructors, interns, and volunteers as needed before, during and after programs.
- Assist the Programs Department with various projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as needed or required which are within the position's scope.

Requirements
- Minimum working age of 18 years old.

- Confident self-starter who demonstrates initiative while seeking assistance when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teammates as well as external contacts.
- Strong organizational skills, computer literacy and technology problem solving skills.
- Ability to plan, execute, and complete projects with excellent attention to detail.
- Readiness to lift 25 lbs, move over uneven surfaces, and lift objects overhead.
- Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week including regular Thursdays evening, Sundays, and some weekend hours as well as occasional events on other days. Hours may be divided between remote and on site.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Office 365, Zoom, sales databases.
- Knowledge of and interest in contemporary or traditional Nordic food or craft or any Nordic languages.
