American Trades Contracting is a leading provider of specialized contracting services in the Southwest. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Low Voltage Tech to join our team

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel to and from the project site(s) to complete various low-voltage, access control, camera, and audiovisual installation projects according to TST specification.
  • Pull and terminate a variety of low-voltage cables, such as Cat5 / 6, fiber optic, alarm, and security cabling.
  • Install IP devices and accessories such as wireless access points, security cameras, card access readers, network switches, firewalls, rack-mounted servers, data racks, displays, audio / video integration devices, and other network-connected devices
  • Perform service inspections and troubleshoot access control, surveillance, and intrusion systems as required
  • Dress and terminate racks and standalone components
  • Test and program systems according to specifications in conjunction with the main office
  • Conduct prewiring and wiring infrastructure from rough to finish

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be proficient in using personal computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Adhere to all workplace safety expectations, regulations, and standards
  • 1 year(s) experience with the proper pulling techniques for all category cable, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, and high pair count copper backbone cabling
  • Experience installing, servicing, and integrating various low-voltage cabling and control systems such as intrusion alarms, card access, video surveillance, data networks, etc.
  • Proficient with the installation of racking systems, termination, and dressing cables in network closets
  • Be familiar with troubleshooting miscellaneous cabling and connectivity concerns
  • Ability to fully interpret and work from blueprints
  • Understand all construction low voltage system blueprints and symbols
  • Understand and install cable pathways per current standards
  • Proven knowledge and abilities in installation practices for UTP / STP cabling
  • Experience terminating connections on a wide variety of network and AV-related cables using a wide array of crimp tools and stripping devices
  • Strong understanding of proper attachment hardware, mounting procedures, and raceway construction (i.e. : Panduit, Wiremold)
  • System integration experience
  • Have experience installing IP devices such as access points, cameras, and A / V equipment
