Summary:
The Development Undergraduate Assistant will support the Kogod School of Business Student Development team with event coordination, student engagement initiatives, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be a current undergraduate student with strong organizational, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop leadership and professional skills while making a meaningful impact on the student experience for Kogod students. Additional duties include general event support, which may require flexibility for evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities may include:
- Student Engagement Support: (1) Assist in planning, execution, and assessment of events including new student orientation, various cultural and educational programs, and support of clubs, case competition, digital badging, and more. (2) Collaborate with other Kogod and AU offices/departments for student engagement programs. (3) Conduct informational tabling in the Kogod building to promote events and resources.
- Platform and Communication Management: (1) Support student outreach efforts through email, social media, and other outlets. (2) Assist with the management of the Kogod Connect platform (Suitable app), including: Adding and updating events and activities and developing and updating badges and achievement systems.
- Administrative Tasks: (1) Attend weekly Student Development team meetings. (2) Support special projects at the request of the Associate Director. (3) Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- Student
- 7–10 hours/wk.
- Maximum of 15 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- $17.50/hr.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be a current undergraduate student at American University in good academic standing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently/collaboratively and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Enrolled in a Kogod academic program.
- Enrolled through Spring 2026.
- Experience using Canva and/or the Kogod Connect (Suitable) platform.
