Summary:
The School of Public Affairs Events Department is seeking an eager student who will assist with event planning, coordination, and execution. This person should be able to maintain a calm demeanor during busy and unforeseen situations and should be flexible in hours and responsibilities while in the position.
Essential Functions:
Coordinating room reservations.
Prepare events materials (name tags, programs, signage, snacks, etc.).
Assisting with catering setup and distribution of food/beverages.
Setting up and breaking down event spaces (chairs, tables, decorations).
Organize the event closet when necessary.
Assisting with AV setup (microphones, projectors, sound systems) and troubleshooting technical issues during events.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
20 hours/week.
Part-time.
All AU students are eligible to apply for this position, with a preference for those students with a Federal Work Study award.
Salary Range:
$17.50/hr.
Required Education and Experience:
Knowledge of AV equipment/technology.
Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Flexibility to work during both daytime and evenings when necessary.
The ability to work with diverse populations including students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
The SPA Events team is seeking a student to work all year, including through the Summer.
Current AU student.
