Summary:
The Makerspace Student Assistant supports the operations of the AU Library Makerspace. In this role, the Student Assistant staffs the Makerspace, maintains and helps patrons use the equipment and tools (i.e. 3D Printer, Large Format Printer, Vinyl Cutter, etc.), provides excellent customer service, and answers general questions about the Library.
Responsibilities:
Operating the machines within the Makerspace.
Basic troubleshooting of equipment/tools and reporting of broken items.
Answering tickets using ServiceNow as well as maintaining a consistent presence on Microsoft Teams.
Effectively communicating with supervisors who are often not within the space.
Maintaining inventory of the Makerspace’s tools and consumable materials.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:
- Part-Time.
- 12 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- $17.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- High level of honesty and integrity, with excellent customer service, interpersonal, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and handle payment transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Familiarity with the Library of Congress call number system.
- Experience with 3D modeling systems, Canva and other graphic design software, Silhouette Studio and vector images, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
- Basic troubleshooting and crafting skills desirable.
