Department Bio
The Department of Epidemiology at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health (GWU SPH) would like to hire a part-time hourly wage student research assistant (RA) to support multiple NIH funded studies in the District of Columbia, Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) Core Laboratory, including HPTN, HVTN and ACTG clinical trials. The RA will also support some research activities in the Laboratory of Mucosal Immunology (PI Dr. Ghosh).
Position Specific Summary
The RA must be a student in the GWSPH graduate program. They must be detail oriented with lab experience working with biological specimens including whole blood for serum separation and PBMC isolation, as well as urines and nasal samples, have good micro-pipetting skills. Experience with ELISA assays and cell culture, is a plus. They must be able to work flexible hours during the day. The total number of hours per week is 10-20 hours per week depending on need.
Standard Position Description
The student will perform basic administrative and research tasks under the guidance of a faculty member or research coordinator. Tasks may include : assisting with experiments, coding, data entry, and data cleaning, preparing research / documents for articles, reports, and / or presentations. Students may also help provide information for literature reviews, draft summaries, and create graphs and figures. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental / faculty needs.

This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
