What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Instructor position at American Welding Academy?
Duties:
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons to students
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Use various teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student learning
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Mentor and support students in their progress and personal development
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve curriculum
- Stay updated on current educational trends and research
- Provide academic advising to students when needed
Qualifications:
- Ability to lead and conduct class of up to 16 students both in classroom and shop setting
- Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and FCAW processes with emphasis on carbon steel and nickel-based alloy pipe
- Proficient in blueprint reading and welding symbols
- Proficient in Isometric Drawing sand Pipe Take Offs
- Familiarity with welding specifications and code interpretation
- Understanding of standard tools, materials, and practices within the welding industry
- Develop and administer instructional and hands-on training sessions for students covering welding techniques, safety practices and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with welding processes and procedures according to the regulatory and code standards
- Emphasize quality as vital component of day-to day instruction
- Provide guidance and expertise during pipe welding and manufacturing process
- Administer and proctor student welding qualification tests
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using while numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Excell, Word and Outlook experience is preferred
- Knowledgeable in the assembly process of major piping and fabricated components
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
- Listen and write clearly and informatively
- Ability to conduct self with professional manor inside and outside of work environment
- Positive Roll Model- demonstrating safety, quality and technique during training and execution
- Ability to work 40 hours a week - Normal hours 6:00am-2:30pm
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
- Possess good hand-eye coordination
- Able to bend, squat, twist and kneel
- Proficient in using hand and power tools
- Familiarity with common weld inspection tools such as V-WAC and fillet wild gauges
Education
- Post secondary education in scientific field preferred
- Technical Welding School
- Minimum of 3 years of experience Pipe Welding (SMAW and GTAW)
