What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Manager position at Americas First Federal Credit Union?
Role: Responsible for writing, editing, and designing employee and member communications through a wide range of mediums; supporting branches and departments in delivering content; and ensuring all communications meet AmFirst's branding presence.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Create communication plans and draft copy for internal and external communications, including press releases, crisis communication, speeches, and employee messaging. Assist in writing, editing, and designing internal and external marketing materials, ensuring consistency in style and messaging.
- Collaborate with various departments, task forces, committees, and the Marketing team to develop and execute messaging for both internal and external audiences, delivered through various traditional and non-traditional channels.
- Provide content for employee updates, newsletters, and special events, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Foster a strong understanding of the AmFirst culture and create strategies to drive internal communication.
- Serve as a ghostwriter for executive communications, such as memos and announcements. Provide proof reading, editorial commentary and summary for Board packages.
- Manage the Social Media Coordinator to ensure cohesive messaging across all social media platforms.
- Oversee content management on AmFirst Connect (the employee intranet), ensuring timely updates and fresh content.
- Partner with the Videographer to enhance social media presence, including videos, member testimonials, staff features, and local business spotlights.
- Manage and maintain the credit union's digital marketing presence across internal and external platforms.
- Coordinate with the Community Engagement and Marketing teams on public relations and media support for events and local initiatives.
Performance Measurements:
- Support the credit union's marketing, communications, and public relations strategies.
- Analyze membership data and market trends to optimize outreach efforts and strengthen member relationships.
- Develop and implement strategies for internal communication, determining the most effective timing and channels.
- Execute communication plans, including business writing, video scripting, print and broadcast writing, and presentations, to enhance employee engagement.
- Review, edit, and ensure approval of communication deliverables for both internal and external channels.
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance internal communication while addressing potential gaps.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience - Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education - (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills - Must have strong communication skills in a corporate establishment. Must have knowledge in public relations or journalism. Exceptional communication, writing and member service skills and ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude. Strong attention to detail, high accuracy, solid quality and sound organizational skills.
