Job Description:
The Paralegal will directly assist and support multiple lawyers in the insurance companies’ legal department, with a focus on corporate governance, entity management, corporate record maintenance and compliance/regulatory filings. The ideal candidate will have a corporate paralegal background with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain corporate and regulatory filing calendar
- Prepare, process and track state, local and regulatory filings with Secretaries of State and Departments of Insurance
- Prepare drafts of legal documents, including governing documents, secretary certificates, board consents and minutes
- Maintain corporate minutes and entity records
- Provide administrative and paralegal support to multiple attorneys, including scheduling, expense reporting and travel arrangements
- Gather documents and respond to subpoenas or other legal process and/or claims-related matters
- Support the vendor/contract management function, including managing the digital signature function
- Review and process incoming mail and documents
- Communicate with and provide support for business/operations partners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ideally has a minimum of 5-7 years of corporate paralegal experience in either a law firm or an in-house legal department
- Understanding of insurance and/or compliance processes in a regulated industry
- Understanding of litigation processes and high comfort level in dealing with litigation documents
- Familiarity with software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Understanding of current activities within a legal department enabling appropriate responses to inquiries
- Prior experience managing expansive and complex organizational/entity structures
- Superior interpersonal skills:

Education:
Undergraduate degree preferred
A Registered Paralegal (RP) certification is preferred
