BGACDC Healthy Living VISTA

The Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center (BGACDC) was founded in 1978, by a group of committed parents living in the small Delta town of Marvell, Arkansas. BGACDC aims to improve the overall quality of life for the poor, mainly African American residents of Marvell-Elaine School District in Phillips County, Arkansas. BGACDC's mission is building community competency by empowering people to help themselves.The VISTA member will offer support dedicated to bridging the gap between the South and healthy living by fostering education, access, and awareness. Their role includes rehabilitating a HOOP House to serve as a hub for fresh, nutritious food and wellness initiatives. Additionally, they will collaborate with community organizations to address unhealthy habits, promote sustainable lifestyle changes, and empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to achieve better health. Through capacity-building efforts, volunteer coordination, and outreach, the VISTA will help create lasting solutions for a healthier, more informed community.
