What are the responsibilities and job description for the LAYC-DC Education Program Spring Summer 24-25 position at AmeriCorps?
LAYC-DC AmeriCorps members serve the communities by working as Youth Developers serving elementary, middle, high schools, and young adult youth. LAYC-DC AmeriCorps Education Department has 3 AmeriCorps positions available that will provide support to our After School Programs and Summer Program. These AmeriCorps members will either be supporting Elementary or Middle School students. We have 2 Full Time Positions (9am-6pm/900hrs Total) and 1 Part Time Positions (Hours Vary/300hrs Total) AmeriCorps members will be responsible to build healthy mentoring relationships with our youth, provide academic support, wrap around service support, data entry, and participate in trainings and professional developments. Members also host numerous events to foster relationships among LAYC staff, youth, and parents including parent orientations, field trips, and special school events. In addition to each member's program based responsibilities, members will also complete two service projects throughout the year.
Member Duties : Essential Responsibilities: Support either our Elementary or Middle School After School Program and Summer Program. Build mentorship relationships with students in a less formal setting. Facilitate workshops, activities, or lessons according to age that build academic/life/social/emotional skills & empower youth. Participate in trainings and certifications on critical aspects of youth development. Provide wrap around service support to our youth and families. Receive hands-on supervision to guide you through your learning process. Learn how to collect accurate data to track the effectiveness of our program. As a team, members complete a minimum of 2 service projects and recruit 60 volunteers. *Other responsibilities vary based on position for more information reach out to Efrain Ramirez efrain@layc-dc.org
