Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Procurement Manager – Food
Manufacturing to oversee the sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management processes within
our food manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring a steady supply of high-
quality raw materials and ingredients at competitive prices while maintaining compliance with
food safety regulations and ethical sourcing standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong
background in supplier negotiations, risk management, and cost control, with a deep
understanding of the food manufacturing industry and it’s key suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Conduct market research to identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers at local,
national, and international levels.
- Assess suppliers based on quality, pricing, reliability, reputation, and compliance with
food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, USDA, SQF).
- Lead the supplier approval process, including site visits, compliance verification, and
documentation reviews.
- Maintain a structured vendor database and ensure all suppliers meet the company's
standards.
2. Price & Contract Negotiation
- Lead competitive bidding processes to secure cost-effective, high-quality raw materials.
- Negotiate volume discounts, long-term contracts, and favorable payment terms to
optimize procurement spend.
- Establish and enforce contract terms & conditions, ensuring clear expectations around
delivery, payments, and quality compliance.
3. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
- Develop long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers to enhance reliability and
cost efficiency.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as order accuracy, timeliness, quality
control, and responsiveness.
- Address and resolve issues such as shortages, late deliveries, and quality concerns in a
timely and effective manner.
4. Diversification & Risk Management
- Minimize supply chain risks by diversifying supplier sources and maintaining backup
supplier agreements.
- Continuously monitor market conditions, inflation trends, raw material availability, and
geopolitical risks to anticipate disruptions.
- Implement contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of critical ingredients.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, or a related
field.
- 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or vendor management within food
manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, ISO 22000,
FSMA, SQF).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
- Ability to analyze market trends, cost drivers, and supplier performance metrics to drive
procurement efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving and risk management skills.
