Robert MacDonald and Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, is seeking a summer Financial Services Intern to join our innovative and dynamic team. This roll is a good fit for students who desires to learn the industry of personal financial services from the ground up through a 35 year advisor’s practice focused on comprehensive financial planning with individuals and small businesses.
This roll directly supports financial advisors in a team-based atmosphere. It allows an intern to gain career-building skills and knowledge in the financial planning industry.
The intern must provide exceptionally friendly, helpful, high-quality service to our clients. This internship will provide opportunities to shadow our advisors, assisting them in financial planning and client needs. Attention to detail and the ability to work with other team members is required. A candidate must be technologically savvy, with strong communications skills, and an analytical mindset. Looking for someone who possess the skill and desire to prosper in this industry.
This is a paid summer position, 20-35 hours per week, with the potential to continue some hours after the summer break ends. Qualified and successful candidates will be considered for an opportunity for full time employment upon graduation with a career path and additional growth opportunities towards an Advisor role.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing documents and visual aids for client meetings
- Assist with meeting reminders and follow up
- Update client information in CRM
- Special projects as directed by advisor
- Other clerical support as needed
- Prepare correspondence
- Assist clients in accessing online tools
- Sit in on client meetings
- Shadow Advisors and AFA
- Perform other allowable duties as assigned by the financial advisors
Required Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate junior or senior level or graduate student working towards a degree in finance or a related field
- A genuine interest in the financial services industry
- Detail oriented, strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Effective and efficient time management and organization
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities
- Proficient with in Microsoft office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Effective writing and communication skills
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Pleasant, professional and friendly manner with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong team player
- Strong personal and business ethics and integrity
