Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) to lead and scale our conversion optimization efforts across all digital channels. In this senior role, you will be responsible for developing data-driven strategies that increase lead-to-loan conversions, improve user experiences, and maximize the return on marketing initiatives. You will collaborate closely with product, marketing, analytics, and sales teams to drive consistent growth and revenue impact—across not just traditional home purchase loans, but also our refinancing and home equity loan products.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • CRO Strategy & Leadership
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive CRO roadmap, aligning it with the organization’s overall marketing and growth objectives.
    • Identify new opportunities to optimize the buyer journey, reduce friction, and increase conversion rates across landing pages, websites, and digital campaigns—for purchase, refinance, and home equity loan products.
  • Data Analysis & Insights
    • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., web analytics, user feedback, heat maps) to identify user behavior patterns and conversion blockers.
    • Track and measure KPIs such as click-through rates, application starts, and successful loan conversions to inform optimization efforts.
  • Testing & Experimentation
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of A/B and multivariate tests, ensuring a rigorous testing methodology and statistical validity.
    • Collaborate with design and development teams to implement test variations, ensuring a seamless user experience during experimentation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with product managers, designers, developers, and marketers to implement test recommendations and optimize user flows.
    • Communicate insights, test results, and best practices to stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring alignment.
  • Team Management & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing CRO team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and data-driven decision-making.
    • Provide guidance on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and cutting-edge CRO techniques.
  • Process Optimization
    • Develop and refine processes for documenting hypotheses, test plans, results, and lessons learned, creating a repository of successful (and unsuccessful) experiments.
    • Implement tools and methodologies that enable faster, more accurate testing cycles and results analysis.
 
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
    • 5 years of experience in CRO, digital marketing, or growth roles, with a proven track record of driving measurable results.
    • Experience in the mortgage, financial services, or fintech industries is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Proficiency in web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) and CRO tools (e.g., Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize).
    • Familiarity with user behavior analysis tools (e.g., Hotjar, Crazy Egg) and knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is a plus.
  • Analytical Mindset
    • Deep understanding of statistical concepts and testing frameworks (A/B, multivariate, personalization).
    • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and present findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership & Communication
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to build, mentor, and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Results-Driven Approach
    • Strategic thinker who can combine high-level vision with hands-on execution.
    • Demonstrated history of systematically identifying growth opportunities, testing them at scale, and delivering tangible ROI.

Compensation: 
Annual compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $350,000. Compensation commensurate with experience.
