We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team at an established Excavating Construction Company. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all personnel on job sites, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The Safety Manager will work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and crew members to implement and enforce safety policies that minimize risks and ensure the well-being of all employees.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Lead safety meetings and training sessions to educate employees about safety practices, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
  • Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear by all workers.
  • Maintain and update safety records, ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the development and review of safety-related policies for excavating, trenching, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and crew members to foster a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and replaced as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify and address any potential safety concerns before they impact project timelines.
  • Ensure that workers are fully trained and competent to perform their duties safely and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in safety regulations and best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant.

Requirements :

  • Proven experience as a Safety Manager or Safety Officer in the construction industry, preferably with excavation or heavy equipment experience as well as DOT.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards specific to construction and excavation operations.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to identify hazards and assess risks on construction sites.
  • Experience in conducting safety training and safety audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead by example and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CPR / First Aid) preferred.
  • Ability to work in both office and field settings, traveling to various job sites as needed.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field is  preferred.
