The hourly pay rate for this position is $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, and location.

Who We're Looking For

We are currently looking to hire a Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running bloodwork, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

Requirements:

• 1 years of veterinary experience (preferred)
• Saturday availability
• 8-hour shifts
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
• TPR
• Assisting doctor and other technical staff with restraint
• Blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Placing IV catheters
• Digital radiology including positioning.
• Dentistry (digital x-rays, scaling, polishing)
• Anesthesia (monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology; HM5; Vetscan; Sedivue
• Excellent client communication/education Duties:```
• - Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment plans- Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners experience:
• - Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or technician preferred
• - Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques
• - Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical procedures
• - Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices
• - Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• - Experience with animal catheterization is a plus
• - Knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment is beneficial
• - Experience in pet grooming or pet sitting is a bonus.
