What are the responsibilities and job description for the Eng Field Svc Tech II position at Ameron Pole Products, LLC?
Ameron Pole Products LLC is hiring a Field Service Technician for our Fillmore, CA operation. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for all field service activities. This position will work with our sales team to grow revenue and improve customer satisfaction.

What you'll do:
- Make job site visits and monitor materials, layout, scheduling, subcontractor performance, efficiency, field procedures, appearance of product and job site, and safety. Prepare written reports.
- Monitor and recommend proper installation methods and practices to company and subcontractors.
- Field check all potentially critical jobs and monitor subcontractor safety procedures. Investigate and resolve field problems, with pictures when applicable, and prepare written reports on customer complaints.
- Enter Southern California Edison (SCE) claims/new project POs into Oracle and manage all revisions to completion process.
- Maintain routine contact with subcontractors and SCE on scheduling requirements and prepare and monitor our delivery schedules. Assign and prioritize work among our four current subcontractors or our own crews. Route the SCE work crews to minimize travel times from job to job. Direct and assist field service work crews by arriving prior to their departure each morning (5 AM) to verify or correct daily instructions.
- Investigate and recommend service enhancements and other additions to the SCE contract (i.e., replace deteriorated steel poles with new overhead concrete poles in beach areas). Advise SCE of various preferred Ameron products, new designs and methods.
- Identify various overhead conductors as to voltage, type, clearance requirements and exact measurements. Contact and coordinate SCE for these critical installations.
- Check all incoming orders for accuracy, omissions and special requirements.
- Assist with the resolution of improper billings and backcharges from supplies, subcontractors or SCE.
- Represent Ameron and SCE in a professional, courteous manner.
What you'll need:
- Strong project management skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to make decisions and operate independently with respect to complex issues and business requirements.
- Ability to communicate in professional and courteous manner in person via phone and email, with internal and external customers.
- Health and Safety conscious.
- C-10 License Highly Preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment includes Plant, warehouse, jobsites, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
- Ability to drive to various jobsites.
- Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Time Requirements:
- 50% - Observe field crew and subcontractor performance, check job conditions. Alter plans as necessary to maximize resources.
- 20% - Enter orders, schedule all deliveries and dispatch Ameron fieldwork crews. Assign and prioritize jobs.
- 25% - Verify order type & quantities at yard or in field.
- 5% - Plan service additions to SCE contract.
