Position Summary:
The Director of Construction Management reports directly to the Vice President of Construction Management and serves as a critical leader within the project management department. This position is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and successful execution of construction projects. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the standards, processes, and tools used to deliver projects effectively. Success in this role is measured by the ability to oversee schedules, budgets, team performance, and client satisfaction across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Consistently embody and promote the values and mission of Ames Construction, serving as a role model for integrity, excellence, and teamwork.
- Develop and direct project management operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving strategic planning initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of project managers, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance.
- Evaluate and analyze data and metrics to assess overall project and operational performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Promote continuous operational improvements, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing best practices for future projects.
- Act as a key liaison between senior management and the project management team, ensuring clear communication and alignment on objectives.
- Lead the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures to enhance consistency and quality in project delivery.
- Oversee customer support processes, organizing efforts to enhance client satisfaction and ensure positive relationships.
- Manage relationships and agreements with external partners and vendors, ensuring quality and timely delivery of services.
- Collaborate with the finance team to review financial data, adjust budgets, and implement strategies to promote profitability.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all projects.
- Lead project risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive innovation by exploring new construction technologies and methodologies.
- Represent the organization at industry events, fostering partnerships and staying informed of emerging trends.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and assignments as necessary to support company success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in construction management, with a proven track record of leading successful projects. Prior managerial experience is strongly desired.
- Advanced knowledge of project management software (ProCore) and tools; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated history of delivering projects on time, within budget, and with high client satisfaction.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and lead.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
- Critical thinker with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
- Driven and self-motivated with a passion for operational excellence.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (subject to MVR background check).
