What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at M2 Construction LLC?
The Director of Operations will be responsible for determining projects’ needs in collaboration with various other team members including Superintendents, Project Managers, Clients and Engineers. This position oversees the planning, execution, and completion of M2 Construction’s projects while actively tracking and reporting on schedules, costs and deadlines. The role will focus on ensuring operational excellence and profitability while balancing solutions for emergencies and conflicts. The ideal candidate will show leadership by working with teams, coordinating resources and developing strategic initiatives to support companywide success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Management and Leadership
- Managing and leading a team of Project Managers and Superintendents.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to Project Managers, Superintendents and other operation employees
- Forecast and allocate resources to ensure efficiency and project profitability
- Uphold high customer service standards through personal and personnel leadership
- Promote the company to customers, suppliers, employees and the public
- Delegate tasks and details while maintaining responsibility for the results
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and safety within the organization
Operational Oversight
- Ensure safety standards are implemented per OSHA standards and company Best Practices
- Oversee all aspects of project execution, including scope, schedule, and budget
- Coordinate and schedule labor assignments for each project according to needs
- Oversee quality standards for the project and ensure best practices are being upheld
- Practically resolve any issues and concerns with projects and personnel
- Recruit, hire, train and evaluate the status of all field personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Advise jobsite logistics to increase efficiency
- Identify growth opportunities and operational improvements to enhance performance metrics
Financial Management
- Analyze and monitor project costs at monthly meetings
- Implement, monitor, benchmark and enforce standards of production for self-performed work to ensure field personnel are operating efficiently and effectively
- Communicate to Estimating, Operations, and Accounting recognizing opportunities or issues in regards to production, budgets, and resources
- Work with finance teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and control expenses.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience
- The ability to read, interpret and understand plans, specifications, and contracts
- The ability to foresee events and anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and react to these changes timely and appropriately
- Maintain valid driver’s License
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites such as Project, Excel, Outlook, and Word
- The ability to multi-task effectively and manage stress load appropriately
- Ability to build relationships with employees and have an open line of communication.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
