POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the payroll team by performing administrative tasks essential to accurate and timely payroll processing. The Payroll Clerk is primarily responsible for accurately recording, maintaining, and verifying employee time and attendance records to ensure compliance with company policies and labor regulations. This role supports payroll processing by ensuring all timekeeping data is accurate, complete, and submitted within required deadlines. The Payroll Clerk works closely with employees and supervisors to resolve discrepancies, provide support, and maintain an efficient timekeeping system. Additional
responsibilities include updating payroll systems, handling payroll documentation, and addressing employee inquiries with patience and accuracy. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to confidentiality, and adherence to payroll policies and regulations to ensure accuracy and compliance in all payroll-related activities.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Specific:
- Process employee timecards and verify accuracy in hours worked, overtime, and deductions
- Accurately input and review employee time records in the company’s timekeeping system
- Assist employees with questions or issues related to timekeeping policies
- Audit and reconcile discrepancies in time records and escalate unresolved issues to management
- Collaborate with payroll management team to ensure timely and accurate submission of timekeepingdata
- Generate and distribute attendance and overtime reports to management
- Ensure compliance with company policies and labor laws related to timekeeping
- Prepare and distribute paychecks to employees
- Review and resolve discrepancies in payroll data by collaborating with employees and managers
- Assist in processing payroll for semi-monthly payroll runs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy, such as earnings statements, tax filings, and deductionsummaries
- Assist with payroll audits by providing requested documentation and data
- Respond to employee inquiries about paychecks, deductions, and tax forms promptly and accurately
- Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including filing physical and digital documentation
- Monitor and update timekeeping systems to ensure accurate tracking of employee hours
- Assist with year-end tasks, such as W-2 preparation and distribution
- Process garnishments, child support orders, and other legal deductions
- Support the payroll team with special projects or process improvements
- Stay updated on payroll software updates and changes in payroll legislationGeneral:

- Consistently wear Urban Alchemy-branded tops or other provided gear while on duty, as required
- Take on additional duties as assigned by your direct supervisor
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Position Specific:
- 3 years of payroll experience with a strong focus on timekeeping
- Exceptional data entry skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of payroll regulations and compliance (preferred)
- Proficient with timekeeping software (e.g., Kronos, ADP, UKG)
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to address inquiries with patience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment, enabling you to handle confidential, sensitive, and challenging situations with discretion
- Collaborative team player, with a genuine interest in fostering community and building authentic relationships within the workplace
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, startup environment, thriving in situations with high ambiguity and evolving processes
- Values kindness and respect, maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere for teammates, employees, and guests
- Lived experience with incarceration and/or homelessness is a plus, bringing a unique perspective and empathy to the role
