amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Development Manager, Direct Response.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is one of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy. Since 1985, amfAR has invested more than $635 million in its programs and has awarded grants to more than 3,800 research teams worldwide.

Primary Functions:

As Development Manager, with responsibility for Direct Response revenue, you'll lead our multichannel fundraising strategies to engage donors contributing up to $10,000 annually. This is an ideal role for a creative problem-solver who can blend strategic thinking with hands-on execution to achieve ambitious revenue goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Fundraising & Creative Content

  • Drive revenue growth through innovative multichannel fundraising campaigns
  • Develop compelling marketing materials and donor communications
  • Design and execute strategies to attract new donors while deepening engagement with existing supporters
  • Generate social media fundraising and remarketing campaigns to increase donation page traffic
  • Create persuasive content that resonates with our mission-driven donor base

Growth & Innovation

  • Identify and implement new channels and strategies to expand our donor base
  • Analyze campaign performance and donor behavior to optimize results
  • Develop and execute strategies to convert one-time donors to recurring supporters
  • Test and refine approaches to maximize revenue and donor retention
  • Create targeted strategies for mid-level donor cultivation ($1,000-$9,999)

Program & Agency Management

  • Serve as primary liaison with our advertising agency partner
  • Lead project management for all direct response initiatives
  • Oversee campaign execution across direct mail, digital, and social channels
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with internal stakeholders
  • Drive timely campaign approvals and maintain project timelines

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record (5 years) in fundraising, sales or digital marketing
  • Exceptional project management and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong creative instincts with experience developing marketing materials
  • Data-driven mindset with ability to analyze and act on campaign metrics
  • Experience managing social media campaigns
  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Bachelor's degree required

Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000
