Mission Prep is looking for Mental Health Technicians to provide superior care for our clients at our Adolescent Residential Mental Health facility in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Mission Prep is AMFM Healthcare's residential program tailored for the healthcare of the adolescent population suffering from mental health and/or substance use disorder diagnoses (12-17 years of age).

We count on our Mental Health Technicians/Community Coordinators to compassionately support and mentor our clients throughout their treatment program while specializing in providing care oversight during overnight hours. We are seeking those who are passionate to help those in need and provide hope. Because our clients have varying mental health diagnoses and behavioral disorders, adequate training will be provided to ensure that our clients receive the best possible care that we can provide. You will join and support a network of trained case managers, therapists, nurses, and psychiatrists who are helping us on our mission to help individuals with mental health disorders achieve a life of meaning and wellness.


Compensation:
$19.00-$23.00/hour.

Schedule: This position is PRN or as needed. You will need to work at least four (4) shifts per month or one (1) shift per week minimum.

Every element of the family’s care is conducted with attention and purpose from the sessions with our board-certified psychiatrist to the beautiful, home-like environment cultivated to bring a sense of belonging and connection for those in our care.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years or older to apply for this position.

  • Successful completion of the ADP Selective Screening Services background check as well as any other state, federal or company required background/record check.

  • Minimum Educational Requirement: High School Diploma or GED

  • Possess valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by our auto insurance policy which includes, but not limited to, the following requirements: 4 continuous years of driving experience, 21 years of age or older, less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, and no more than 1 major violation in the last 3 years.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Current T.B. clearance

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work on a computer/keyboard, use electronic systems, communicate with others through written and verbal formats, ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time, ability to climb stairs, listening, reading comprehension, lifting up to 20 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with family members, clients, and other staff members professionally and respectfully.
  • Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment, including telephones, computers, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, scanners, and shredders.
  • Ability to be professional and maintain a positive attitude and relationships with coworkers.
  • Excel at both written and verbal communications to convey essential information; must be able to utilize the proper linguistic syntax and spelling.
  • Knowledge of clinical and medical terminology as it relates to the delivery of clinical care to the clients within our programs as required by our payers.
  • Knowledge of the clinical, medical, and miscellaneous services provided to the clients.
  • Ability to use computer software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and G Suite products.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Community Coordinator I will be assigned projects, based on his/her level of expertise, that include any, or all the following job responsibilities.

  • Coordinates and transports clients safely to all daily activities, ensuring the clients arrive on time to all scheduled activities, and ensures participant safety.

  • Utilizes intervention and communication skills in working with clients, their families and significant others daily and in crisis.

  • Rigorously adheres to all Joint Commission policies and procedures, including Waived Testing, Infection Prevention and Control, as well as Emergency Management and Environment of Care procedures.

  • Collaborate with the program nurse and clinical team regarding medication management, and monitor and report client behavior with medication side effects. Monitor and document client self-administration medications while coaching clients in self-management and documenting medications in accordance with the organization’s policy on medication use.

  • Maintain the integrity of the residences, ensuring optimal cleanliness at all times and keeping the area hygienic.

  • Be an integral part of the Mission Prep community, immersing yourself in the daily lives of the clients in order to engender feelings of a connected and harmonious environment. The Mission Prep Community Coordinator is truly a part of the program and an essential aspect of each clients wellness journey.

  • Facilitate recovery and clinically indicated activities and groups according to organization policy and document into the electronic health record. Proficiently navigate and utilize the BestNotes electronic health record system to document client activities effectively.

  • Conduct observation rounds, as needed to ensure client safety, and document client behavior and participation in treatment. Effectively and correctly report these in daily passdowns.

  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment and participate in each client's individualized person centered care and treatment plan, ensuring that each client's treatment experience is unique and memorable while adhering to CA DSS regulations and Mission Prep Healthcare principles and values.

  • Conduct orientation to new residents, including reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagrams, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and first-aid kits.
