Senior Manager Procurement
What You Will Do
Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will be accountable for leading all aspects of the ARI Procurement operation, driving analytics, strategy, and continuous improvement of current business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. This includes:
Site Procurement Strategy and Operations:
- Lead and manage a team of Amgen FTE buyers to define raw material inventory and safety stock strategies, using analytics to optimize vendor lead times and performance metrics, ensuring available production supply.
- Drive the development of a strategic roadmap for procurement operations, aligning with long-term business goals and using data to inform decision-making.
- Implement and maintain data-driven processes to measure and improve the performance and continuous improvement capabilities of both the internal ARI Procurement team and external suppliers.
- Partner cross-functionally to identify and address material challenges proactively, using advanced analytics and scenario planning to evaluate alternative solutions.
- Leverage Global Supply Chain networks and manufacturing site contacts to enhance material sharing strategies, mitigate stock-out risks, and minimize scrap exposure, supporting productivity and sustainability goals.
- Lead the raw material planning process (material supply and demand planning) using advanced forecasting tools, ensuring SAP data accuracy and alignment across functions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Raw Material Network, External Supply, and External Quality, to identify and mitigate supply risks, strengthen supplier relationships, and improve supply chain resilience.
- Drive business process improvement initiatives across procurement, focusing on workflow automation, system enhancements, and integration of advanced analytics tools.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive performance management system with key metrics to track supplier performance, inventory levels, and procurement efficiency.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement through the deployment of Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve agility.
- Lead the design and execution of critical initiatives to optimize raw material planning processes, enhance visibility, and improve decision-making.
- Use analytics and reporting tools to provide insights into procurement operations, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for strategic improvements.
- Establish training programs focused on data analytics, strategy development, and leadership to build a successful, cross-functional procurement team.
- Foster a data-driven approach within the team, empowering employees to use insights to influence decisions and lead change.
- Develop succession planning and talent development strategies to ensure organizational sustainability and scalability.
- Maintain GMP-controlled processes, procedures, and systems, ensuring full compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Drive readiness for regulatory inspections by using data analytics to demonstrate robust procurement operations and risk mitigation measures.
- Build and maintain relationships with Global Supply Chain, External Supply Chain, and other Amgen sites to foster alignment, process improvement, and superior customer service.
- Actively represent ARI Procurement at site and network levels, influencing collective performance and advancing strategic goals through best practices and shared insights.

Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 12 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
- Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
- Master’s Degree and 6 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
- Doctorate Degree and 2 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
- In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
- Expertise in using analytics and data to inform supply chain strategy and optimize operations
- Well-versed in supply chain concepts, planning principles and inventory management theory and/or equivalent experience in the supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, or quality functions.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM/APICS) certification or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- High proficiency with computer systems (SAP, Rapid Response, Excel, Smartsheet or comparable).
- Solid understanding of cGMP guidelines.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, data science, and optimization skills.
- Ability to distill complex data sets and problems into concise and actionable plans.
- Ability to influence and negotiate to resolve issues, gain consensus, and develop relationships tactfully and optimally.
- Self-motivation and ability to grow and learn new insights.
- Financial and business acumen to evaluate and drive cost optimization opportunities
- Ability to influence broadly and build consensus across multiple levels of the organization
