Interlibrary Loan Supervisor
Amherst College invites applications for the Interlibrary Loan Supervisor position, a full-time role that coordinates a user-centered resource-sharing service to support research and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Interlibrary Loan Processing: Provide Amherst students, faculty, and staff with materials not held locally, utilizing advanced search techniques as needed.
- Establish Relationships: Build mutually beneficial relationships with partner libraries from across the country and internationally, providing exceptional service to both borrowing libraries and users.
Management & Planning
- Supervise Team: Supervise and train an Interlibrary Loan team of 1 full-time staff and 2-3 part-time student assistants, developing an engaging work culture.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with colleagues in Research & Instruction and Acquisitions to provide an easily accessible service for users to acquire material not available at Amherst or the Five College Libraries.
- Maintain Systems: Maintain ILL and scanning software and hardware, communicating with vendors as necessary.
Access Services Team
- Provide Responsive Service: Welcome users, maintain borrower accounts, explain policies, and make referrals during regularly scheduled hours at the Frost Front Desk.
- Support Student Assistants: Oversees and supports the work of a diverse group of student assistants, serving as Student Supervisor On Duty in the absence of the Access Services Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- 1 year of work experience in an academic or research library.
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service and ability to learn new technologies.
