About the Role:
This full-time, year-round position reports to the Associate Provost and Associate Dean of the Faculty and works closely with the Department of Environmental Health and Safety. The successful candidate will provide training on best practices for chemical safety, hazardous materials handling and storage, and hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal. They will also develop and administer programs for chemical hygiene, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training on chemical safety and regulatory compliance
- Develop and implement programs for chemical hygiene and risk management
- Advise science faculty, staff, and students on laboratory safety and hazardous waste management
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Biochemistry or related field
- Experience with safety and regulatory compliance in a laboratory or industrial setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field
- CHMM certification
- Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer certification
- Experience creating and delivering chemical hygiene training programs
- HAZWOPER Training (40 hours)
