About the Position
The Director of Chemical and Laboratory Safety will provide critical leadership in ensuring a safe working environment for faculty, staff, and students. This individual will serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and Laser Safety Officer, developing and implementing programs for chemical hygiene, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include providing training on best practices for chemical safety, hazardous materials handling and storage, and hazardous waste management. The successful candidate will also advise science faculty, staff, and students on regulatory compliance and liability related to laboratory safety and environmental health.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a Master's Degree in Biochemistry or a related field and have experience with safety and regulatory compliance in a laboratory or industrial setting. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
