What are the responsibilities and job description for the Milling Machine Operator position at AMI Construction, Inc.?
The Milling Machine Operator is primarily responsible for the set-up, safe operation and maintenance of the asphalt milling machine. This person will work with their crew to meet company production and quality specifications, utilizing complex problem-solving skills along with strong client and colleague interaction skills. The role is best suited for a team player who is action-oriented.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform work in accordance with local, commercial, and DOT specifications.
- Complete jobs within budget and on time.
- Coordinate between other crews, subs, and vendors.
- Operate the milling machine to mill to desired grades and elevations to meet job specifications.
- Thorough understanding of the paving industry including prep work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving.
- Instruct crew members in a professional manner in order to relay expectations and instill motivation.
- Work alongside crew members and assist in all capacities of applications.
- Work with the management team to stay updated on product knowledge and be informed of any changes.
- Respond to internal and external requests and provide high quality support to customers and colleagues.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism with clients and work to establish a positive rapport with every contact.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Needed:
- Asphalt milling experience required.
- Ability to operate a Wirtgen Milling Machine or one similar; minimum 2-3 years of experience.
- Ability to operate a Skid Steer, Paver, Roller, etc is a plus.
- Confidentiality and trustworthiness.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
