The Opportunity
The John Knox Village President position is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished executive to make an impact with a well established and nationally renowned organization. This opportunity will allow an experienced executive to lead an already accomplished, established and exceptional organization into the future of care for its residents.
The Position
The President position reports to the John Knox Village Board of Directors and ultimately to the PremierLife Board of Directors. This position has direct supervision of four (4) executive staff, Foundation President, and Senior Executive Assistant. The John Knox Village President plans, develops and establishes the policies and objectives of John Knox Village and the PremierLife System of companies in accordance with board directives and the corporation charter. Confers with company officials to conduct strategic planning, plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between divisions and departments, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives. Revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Serves as a model and leads the organization in fostering a positive culture.
The Ideal Candidate
John Knox Village was founded in 1970 as one of the first life plan communities in the nation with a mission to enrich the lives of older adults through community living- “Enriching lives, building community”. It is currently a Not-for-profit organization 501(c)(3), run by a nine-member volunteer board of directors that is located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, with home health offices in Prairie Village, Kansas. They serve about 1,200 residents on its campus and about 5,000 community members who live in western Missouri and eastern Kansas annually with about 850 associates on staff. John Knox Village is one of the largest employers in Lee’s Summit.
Services include Independent Living, John Knox Village Emergency Medical Services, Village Helpers In-Home Care, Village Home Health, Village Assisted Living, Village Assisted Living Memory Care, Village Care Center, Village Hospice, Village Outpatient Therapy, and Village Palliative Care.
The Location:
Lee's Summit is a city in the U.S. state of Missouri and is a suburb in the Kansas City metropolitan area. It resides in Jackson County as well as Cass County. Over a hundred years ago, the small 11-block Town of Strother straddled the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks. Today, that small town consists of 65.87 square miles and is known as the City of Lee's Summit. As of the 2020 census, its population is 101,108.
Conveniently located less than 20 miles from downtown Kansas City, we offer easy access to the Royals, Chiefs, Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theatre and all major Kansas City metro highways. The Ideal Candidate
- Masters Degree in Public Administration, Health Care or Business required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years Chief Executive Officer and/or senior level management experience required.
- Experience at a retirement community, healthcare, or hospitality setting related organization required.
- Experience leading in a complex environment.
- Board Management experience.
- Successful experience with fundraising.
