Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical packaging for industry leading density, cost effectiveness, and manufacturable power electronics module systems and associated cabinets
- Hands on technical leader, must be capable and excited to lead the team on game changing design approaches based on first principles of physics and engineering
- Design power electronics and magnetics packaging for thermal, structural, and manufacturing goals.
- Thermal design leadership including simulation to ensure optimized cooling and system efficiency at module and cabinet levels
- High voltage direct to grid, high power multi-MW mechanical design leadership including PCB/component packaging, insulation systems, thermal interface, and high-performance bus bar/connection design with EMC focus integrated from EE teams
- Establish complete mechanical design team including processes, FMEA based approach, simulation environment, configuration management systems, and mechanical validation
- Drive complete validation of mechanical systems for Solid State Transformer systems
- Shape the product roadmap with design, product, validation, and supply chain teams
- Build the team from ground up establishing a culture of excellence
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering for power electronics products
- 7 years' experience in mechanical engineering, with 3 years’ experience in team leadership
- Outstanding knowledge of mechanical and thermal fundamentals related to power electronics
- Expert capability in thermal and structural simulation for power conversion
- Exceptional experience working with Electronics design teams, Supply Chain, Applications, and Compliance engineering to drive harmonized and efficiently executed solutions for the customer
- Evidence of delivering strategic and tactical based mechanical solutions that push the boundaries
- Entrepreneurial mindset with clear bias for informed action and leading new initiatives with limited resources and support
- Evidence of ability to establish sound design processes and configuration management systems for overall team efficiency
- Demonstration of ability to build and mentor a design and validation team
- Excellent written and verbal communications in English
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
