Responsibilities
As an Advanced Materials Engineer – elastomers focus reporting to the Advanced Materials and Technology Manager you are responsible for developing, monitoring and improving novel rubber technologies to achieve quality and performance standards of the business.
Responsabilities
- Assists in the development and execution of test plans for the validation of new elastomeric components for next generation interconnects
- Evaluates current and emerging processing and compounding techniques for elastomers and other materials, the equipment needed and their implementation in manufacturing for next generation designs
- Serves as a lead in the product design efforts by conducting material level testing (thermal analysis, rheology, microscopy, mechanical testing)
- Perform advanced numerical modeling to analyze and optimize the reliability and manufacturability of elastomeric components in the application
- Develop accelerated test methods to ensure reliability of elastomeric based materials.
- Analyzes results in Excel, Minitab, Matlab or equivalent to find data-driven insights
- Collaborates with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel to continuously improve manufacturing and capabilities
- Performs failure analysis and recommends corrective actions.
- Communicates effectively at all levels using visuals (charts), presentations, and emails
- Advanced degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Plastics Engineering, or equivalent with relevant industry experience
- Ability to assess essential critical quality characteristics of filled elastomeric products
- Thorough understanding of silicone rubber processing (injection molding, compression, compounding techniques)
- Strong knowledge of elastomer manufacturing operations with respect to connector/electrical parts
- Proficiency in major FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret complex numerical simulation results through fundamental engineering principles.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of elastomeric characterization techniques, with proven ability to demonstrate skills in these fields
- Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Matlab and Minitab
- Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
- Desire and ability to make “hands-on” positive impact
