Job Description
Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Paralegal to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a paralegal certificate and/or two to seven years of experience in tax, trusts, and estates law. This position offers a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and enjoys working collaboratively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and filing of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Support the administration of estates, including the probate process, asset inventory, and distribution of estate property.
- Prepare and file federal and state estate tax returns and assist in the preparation of trust tax returns.
- Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and properly filed.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and other parties involved in trust and estate matters.
- Assist attorneys with legal research and document preparation related to trusts and estates matters.
- Coordinate and track deadlines for filings and compliance with legal requirements.
- Perform general administrative duties including document management, client communications, and scheduling meetings.
Qualifications
- A paralegal certificate or equivalent education is required.
- 2 to 7 years of experience in tax, trusts, and estates law is required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating a strong work ethic.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
