Director, Supply Chain

POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Supply Chain Director’s primary focus is to ensure the successful execution of Amsted Rail’s business strategy though Supply Chain activities. The Director will lead and support Planning, Sourcing, and Logistics Teams to ensure customer satisfaction.  This position exists to provide all facets of supply chain for bearing and seals operations.  To accomplish the business objectives, the Director of Supply Chain will work closely with employees, customers and leaders, reporting to the COO.  As such, it is imperative that this leader is strong in building formal and informal networks inside and outside of the company. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To accomplish this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The following are the end results and deliverables for which this position is held accountable.

• Develops and executes strategic plans for the department. 
• Meets supply chain objectives including customer responsiveness, cost reduction, asset utilization, supply chain flexibility, risk mitigation and working capital optimization. 
• Provides outsourced components and raw materials in the manufacturing of tapered roller bearings. 
• Designs, support and improve supply chain planning processes (S&OP) to include new product introduction. 
• Develops and implements logistics process to include stores, warehouse, external transportation and internal material handling. 
• Ensures outsourced components meet customer requirements. 
• Resolves all customer, supplier, internal and external concerns.
• Attracts, develops and retrains talent to achieve world class performance.  Develops goals and performance measures for the department. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Metallurgy or related discipline; MBA or Masters a plus
• 7 years supply chain leadership in a manufacturing environment, APICS certification a plus. 
• 3 years’ experience in supplier compliance and customer requirements, AAR, ISO & IATF a plus.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft products (i.e. Outlook, Teams, Excel), APO systems and ERP (SAP preferred)
