Job Title
The Quality Engineer is a key member of an internal Integrated Product Team (IPT) comprising manufacturing, engineering, program management, and support staff. They participate in all areas of the client's Quality Management System (QMS) and provide systems support for various quality functions including contract and purchase order review, interpretation of contractual quality requirements, and plans for compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the primary customer contact for all quality topics related to assigned programs, maintaining excellent customer relations.
- Manage and supervise direct report quality inspectors for assigned programs.
- Apply systematic problem-solving and improvement concepts in a team environment to resolve product quality issues.
- Develop and implement test plans for conducting experimental trials and qualifying tooling to support improvement efforts, including required Management of Change (MOC) documentation, work instructions, maintenance work orders, and subsequent Capital Expense Requests (CERs).
- Analyze cost of quality and performance data to plan and deploy improvement efforts.
- Provide routine, accurate reports to senior management and program team members as required.
- Read and understand customer requirements, product drawings, and specifications, providing written interpretation for performance.
- Understand, generate, and oversee the timely completion of quality documentation required for production delivery approval.
- Participate in all areas of the client's quality management system.
- Contribute to shared values and team-based management structure by providing input in areas not specific to quality assurance.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when faced with challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Manufacturing preferred.
- One to five years of experience in Quality Engineering or comparable work experience.
- Knowledge of Government specifications, contracts, and ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
- Familiarity with management systems for improving quality, such as benchmarking, project management, six-sigma, and experimental design.
- Awareness of Lean Manufacturing tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Demonstrated dependability, responsibility, accuracy, and ability to deal effectively with people.
Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Engineering or Business-related field; seven to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
- Must be able to obtain DoD Confidential Clearance.
- Self-motivated individual with demonstrated maturity, good sense of responsibility, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and high degree of integrity.
- Able to interface and work productively with all employees.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Must be a U.S. Person.
