Job Summary:
The Production Scheduler - Lead will oversee the production scheduling, production control, shipping, and customer service functions by analyzing new orders to plan, prepare and communicate a master schedule to assure quality parts are delivered to meet the needs of the customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage team members in Scheduling, Shipping, Receiving, Customer Service, and Cycle Counters.
- Develop a production plan for the respective manufacturing facility to assure optimum use of equipment, smooth product flow and timely shipment of parts to the customer.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipment activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Monitors customer needs through daily interaction with the customer systems, commercial team,and customer service departments. Receives and responds to requests for lead times, delivery inquiries, and other customer-related information.
- Investigates and resolves customer problems associated with deliveries.
- Has primary responsibility for managing scheduling and inventory control.
- Accountable for achieving budget levels for dollar value and inventory turns, as well as developing cycle-count system to measure inventory accuracy. Implements changes as needed to improve systems with regards to the data collection for inventory and production reporting systems. Plans, organizes, directs, develops, and controls activities related to production schedules of assigned facilities to maximize efficiency and maintain on-time deliveries to customer base. Coordinates the schedules for interplant activities as well.
- Ensure obsolescence targets are met.
- Develop a manufacturing plan for future operating periods by forecasting customer needs, taking into account current inventory levels, machine capacities, supplier capacities, and labor availability.
- Manage the flow of information to assure all departments are aware of the production schedule so adequate planning of equipment downtime and maintenance does not negatively impact the schedule.
- Confer with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
- Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to assure optimum use of equipment, smooth product flow and timely shipment of parts to the customer. Determine human resource requirements and clearly communicate personnel needs to production.
- Assure customer service satisfaction by providing communication on changes in manufacturing shipping and/or delivery or quality products.
- Assure optimal plant flow by coordinating receipt of raw materials, shipment of finished goods, and inter department transfers with appropriate personnel and outside firms. Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Plan and distribute weekly workload to a shipping/receiving department. Supervise shipping/receiving department employees at assigned facility.
- Carries out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three (3) years of experience in scheduling or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment; or a High School diploma/GED and an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
