Job Summary:
Promotes the Company safety mission and objectives by providing assigned facilities with an effective safety program designed to ensure a safe and healthy work environment that complies with federal, state, and local guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Executes Corporate Safety Policies and participates in the development of facility-specific procedures for compliance with established standards.
- Analyzes workplaces to identify potential safety and health hazards and risks at assigned facilities and develops prevention activities, with indirect accountability for enforcement.
- Promotes a safety culture by communicating safety information to employees and management team.
- Assists in the development, design, and delivery of safety training for full-time, part-time, and temporary employees.
- Conducts investigations of all safety incidents or concerns and assists with completion of corrective action plans.
- Conducts regular safety inspections, specific equipment inspections, and safety meetings.
- Compiles and analyzes data relating to safety and health issues, prioritizes situations, and drives the process of correcting or improving areas of concern.
- Maintains safety records and submits reports to Company managers and governmental agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance while conducting and responding to inspections and audits.
- Ensures adherence to all applicable safety regulations and standards. Determines needed safety and health employee testing and contracts outside services to conduct same; analyzes results and coordinates decision-making process relative to appropriate action.
- Builds, develops and facilitates Safety Committee.
- Conducts audits and inspections to ensure that the Company's safety/health principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced, and assists with employee disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Provides advice and approval of safety and health issues for new products and processes and ensures appropriate measures are in place before new products or processes are released for production.
- Responds to all outside medical attention injuries and ensures appropriate action is taken relative to any personnel, equipment, machinery, or tools that were involved in incident.
- Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry, in government regulations, or in benchmark data available in the areas of safety and health.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Safety or Technology discipline and minimum three years related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced specialized training in industrial safety and hygiene, ergonomics, and OSHA regulations, as well as other pertinent Federal, State or Local regulations required.
- Have a background in manufacturing and finishing processes, employee safety and health, OSHA and NFPA regulations, industrial hygiene.
- Possess report-writing skill and the ability to research and administer OSHA, Corporate and facility policies and procedures.
- Ability to problem-solve and make sound judgments and decisions.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, make sound judgments and decisions, and develop alternative and valid solutions as needed.
- Effective communication and presentations skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and identify root causes.
- Detail oriented with strong recordkeeping skills.
- Leadership skills to promote a safety culture within the workplace.
- Ability to work different hours or shifts.
- Knowledge of PC operations, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management.
- Knowledge of Safety and HRIS software
