AmTrust Financial Services has a significant number of system, process, data initiatives, and special projects required to be assessed and undertaken by our Finance teams (Finance/Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Actuarial) on an ongoing basis. These efforts vary in size, and may include the implementation of new systems and automations, reports development, process and organization change in support of meeting new legal /regulatory/ accounting requirements, integration of newly acquired businesses, as well as targeted improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
This position uses data analytics to provide business insight, by evaluating processes, identifying requirements, and providing data-driven reports and suggestions to Finance executives and stakeholders. The role will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across AmTrust, including but not limited to senior Financial and Information Technology staff of both US Domestic and International Operations (includes peers, testers, business partners, project managers, developers and the business) to ensure successful delivery of requests, enhancements and projects. The Financial Data Analyst role facilitates discussions amongst Finance stakeholders and the data development team through which requirements are gathered, written, and tested.
The Finance Transformation Team is seeking a Financial Data Analyst with experience to perform the following.
- Evaluate very large data sets with an ability to spot trends, present business insights, troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies.
- Drive consistency/best practices and seek out potential areas of improvement in data flow and validity
- Participate in special projects related to finance automation and efficiency, in coordination with finance transformation, operations and IT.
- Collects and defines requirements, translates into IT work requests, participates in the technical design, and data reconciliation.
- Lead efforts to ensure efficiency and global consistency in the financial accounting, close, consolidation and financial reporting processes.
- Support adherence to the company's framework of internal controls, including the design and execution of appropriate controls.
- Develop/maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders through frequent contact, professional interaction and expert guidance.
- Bachelor's degree or 3 years of related analytical experience required
- Prior experience in data mining, reporting and data visualization solutions, consulting or business analysis
- Must be proficient in Microsoft SQL Server Excel, Data Visualizations (ie. PowerBI), and Microsoft Excel and Visio
- Experience with system implementations, data reconciliations, and related change management activities

- Ability to document and analyze business and system processes.
- Strong collaborator/influencer: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to influence and drive change.
- Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM Suites
- Effective project management and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with technical accounting, accounting policy and/or financial reporting.
- Experience with Account reconciliation tools (ie Oracle ARCS, AutoRek)
- Working knowledge of systems and technology utilized within insurance/reinsurance, accounting and financial reporting processes.
- Property Casualty Insurance industry experience
