Assistant Safety Director
A leading company in heavy civil construction is seeking an experienced Assistant Safety Director to oversee a team of Site Safety Supervisors across our North Carolina operations. This role is crucial in maintaining and improving our occupational safety and health performance across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of 10 Site Safety Supervisors, ensuring consistent application of safety protocols across all project sites
- Experienced in underground utility installation and excavation on civil site development projects
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures for all construction projects
- Conduct regular safety/site audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement
- Oversee the investigation of accidents and incidents, ensuring accurate reporting and implementation of preventative measures
- Manage the budget for safety programs and equipment across multiple sites
- Develop and conduct comprehensive safety training classes for employees at all levels
- Create training presentations on various safety topics
- Travel extensively throughout North Carolina to visit client sites, providing updates on safety requirements (Up to 33%)
- Conduct regular site visits across the entire state to maintain a consistent safety culture
- Fill in and be full-time as site safety manager as needed when existing site safety is out for vacation, PTO, etc.
- Preparation of site-specific safety plans as required by specific projects.
Required Certifications:
- OSHA 510/30 Certification
- OSHA 500/502 Certification
- Competency Trainer certification for Fall Protection, Excavation, Trenching
- Flagger Training
- New Employee Orientation
- First Aid / CPR certification
- Confined Space Training
