What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Civil superintendent position at Amundson Group?
The Heavy Civil Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day field operations of heavy civil construction projects for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The superintendent is responsible for coordinating all aspects of construction activities, including but not limited to road construction, bridge construction, drainage systems, and other infrastructure projects. This role will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and TxDOT specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Supervision: Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for heavy civil projects, ensuring efficient and effective execution in alignment with TxDOT guidelines and contractual obligations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and direct field staff, including subcontractors, laborers, equipment operators, and other personnel to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance with TxDOT safety standards and OSHA regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings and audits to mitigate risks on-site.
- Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control standards to ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Oversee the development and management of daily, weekly, and project schedules. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
- Material Management: Ensure that materials are ordered, delivered, and used efficiently. Maintain inventory controls and ensure proper handling and storage of materials.
- Reporting & Documentation: Track project progress, document daily logs, field changes, safety reports, and incident reports. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on project status, milestones, challenges, and progress.
- Problem-Solving: Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site, including delays, safety concerns, and logistical challenges. Resolve problems in a timely and effective manner while maintaining project momentum.
- Budget Oversight: Assist with project budgeting by monitoring labor, equipment, and material costs. Work to mitigate any potential cost overruns.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and other stakeholders to ensure all phases of construction are progressing smoothly and within TxDOT requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
