We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual for the role of Superintendent (Heavy Civil) in our Construction firm. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected company that is deeply involved in the construction of heavy civil projects including bridges, roadways, and other major infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, with a focus on project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.

Responsibilities

As a Permanent Superintendent (Heavy Civil), your primary responsibilities will include

• Overseeing all aspects of heavy civil construction projects, including the construction of bridges and roadways.
• Developing and implementing project schedules, plans, and budgets.
• Ensuring all construction activities are performed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
• Managing and leading a team of construction professionals, ensuring all team members are working together effectively and efficiently.
• Implementing and maintaining strict cost control measures to ensure project profitability.
• Coordinating with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Ensuring all construction activities comply with all safety and quality standards and regulations.
• Identifying and resolving any potential issues or delays that could impact project completion.
• Providing regular project updates to senior management, including progress reports and forecasts.
  
  

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Permanent Superintendent (Heavy Civil) role will have the following qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on bridges and roadways.
• Strong knowledge of construction management principles, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
• Proven experience in managing and leading a team of construction professionals.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact project completion.
• Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
• A proven track record of successfully completing heavy civil construction projects on time and within budget.
• A strong commitment to safety and quality, with a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset.
