POSITION SUMMARY: The Heavy Equipment Operator at Amwaste is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment in a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station. This includes transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner.

- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the equipment according to Company policy to ensure maintenance and safety.
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, rock trucks, front-end loaders, and other machinery using proper safety standards.
- Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials and maintain the condition of the equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform minor service on equipment and document repairs; refer complex issues to the Maintenance Shop.
- Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report necessary repairs to supervisors.
- FOLLOW ALL REQUIRED SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
- This role will also involve handling recyclable materials from railcars to rolloff containers for transport to designated recycling areas or landfills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of verifiable prior experience in heavy equipment operation (preferred).
- Experience working at OSHA-regulated sites or state environmental agencies (preferred).
