Amwins Program Underwriters, Inc. (APU) is excited to offer an internship opportunity in Operations, supporting underwriting. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in underwriting support as part of our rating platform. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of operations practices, process evaluation, and improvement, as well as data analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
For more than 30 years, Amwins Program Underwriters (APU) has built a reputation of developing and maintaining programs for a variety of niche industries and providing broad-based property & casualty insurance solutions to our retail partners.
Today, APU administers over 35 programs generating in excess of $630 million in premium. APU manages these programs through 190 dedicated professionals serving out of nine office locations across the United States.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in underwriting support as part of our rating platform. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of operations practices, process evaluation, and improvement, as well as data analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwriting Support: Assist in underwriting support tasks as part of the rating platform, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data
- Process Evaluation and Improvement: Conduct evaluations of current processes and identify opportunities for improvement to optimize efficiency and performance
- Excel Workbooks Design and Development: Support the design and development of workbooks to streamline process and enhance data management
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations for claims and underwriting for internal and external use
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Knowledge of Visual Basic Script (VBS)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Onsite position in Portsmouth, NH
