Job Overview:
The mission of the Production Control Manager is to motivate the Production Team to meet the customer’s delivery and quality expectations while operating in a safe, cost effective and environmentally friendly manner. To achieve the mission, the Production Control Manager has the responsibility of directing daily production operations in a way that is consistent with the company credo, mission, vision and business plan. The Production Control Manager will work with the Leadership Staff to develop, review, and take action on key business metrics that are linked through the aforementioned statements.
This position will require regular communication, both written and verbal, with the professional staff regarding the status of daily operations. In accordance, continuous communication will be required with Shipping & Receiving, Technical/Engineering, Quality Control, Customer Service, Scheduling, Maintenance and Production Personnel. Strong leadership skills are necessary to clearly define, communicate, motivate and direct production operations to achieve the desired business results.
There must be a clear understanding of the production schedule and its impact on the operation; in accordance, daily management of people, equipment and work are required to meet the business goals. The schedule may change frequently and flexibility must be maintained on a daily basis. In addition, this position will direct all aspects of finishing; ensure schedule priorities are being met at each production line; meet regularly with the Leadership Staff to evaluate personnel, equipment and manufacturing needs; manage employee vacations or any other time off requests, and implement process improvements on constrained areas.
Knowledge of and the aptitude to learn media blasting, electro-plating and the industrial coating process are required. This position will need to be able to interpret part drawings, Standard Operation Procedures, Military and ASTM specifications and Work Instructions. Mechanical ability and inclination are required as they are necessary to understand the plating process. Good reading, math, problem solving, computer, and Microsoft Office skills are critical. Duties may also include delivering customer parts, packing/wrapping orders, masking or counting parts, or any other action which achieves the mission.
Responsibilities
- Beginning of Day (BOD) and End of Day (EOD) meetings
- Manage daily operations of the production floor, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Confirm work staged, ready for process
- Expedite Rush Orders through the shop
- Shop cleanliness and organization
- Perform general labor tasks when needed i.e. racking, un-racking, masking, fork lift etc.
- Manage to Key Performance Indicators - Line Targets, Right First Time (RFT) On-Time-Delivery (OTD), Performance to Plan (PTP), Cycle-Time, Safety, and Environmental Measures
- Coordinate personnel, tools, and parts to ensure production schedule is maintained
- Promote cross training of personnel to maintain a flexible workforce
- Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry regulations within the manufacturing facility.
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Weekend coverage rotation as necessary
- Assign and coordinate overtime as necessary
- Assist with employee performance reviews
Requirements
- Proven experience in a production management role within a manufacturing facility.
- Strong mechanical knowledge.
- Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment is preferred.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to manufacturing tasks.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted
- Standing, stooping, bending and reaching overhead
