ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
CLASS TITLE: ASB ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform specialized accounting and financial record-keeping duties to assure accurate accounting of Associated Student Body (ASB), athletic and other student accounts; assure compliance with applicable provisions of the California Education Code and applicable site, District and government policies and procedures; prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to assigned accounts.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform specialized accounting and financial record-keeping duties to assure sound fiscal management of student body and other student-related accounts accounts; assure compliance with applicable provisions of the California Education Code. E
Collect and receipt monies related to student functions including club accounts, ASB funds, bus passes, testing fees, yearbooks, field trips, athletic events, student activities, ASB cards and a variety of other fees; count and record monies into proper accounts; prepare and make bank deposits; sell bus passes, dance, sports and other student activity tickets, cards, yearbooks and other items related to student functions. Prepare and maintain financial records for student body activities, clubs and the associated student body; assemble, tabulate, check and file ASB and financial data including invoice and purchase order files, savings and checking account records; prepare a variety of reports including reconciliations, balance sheets, trial balances and revenue potentials. E
Maintain petty cash; distribute funds; post to appropriate accounts; process checks for reimbursement. E
Perform financial duties for the school abatement account. E
Process monthly closing of ASB and other assigned accounts; post earned interest; prepare related reports. E
Prepare, issue and process ASB purchase orders; disburse funds; utilize a computerized system to input checks, purchase orders and invoices related to financial responsibilities of a variety of student body activities; verify amounts and obtain proper signatures; mail checks in a timely manner. E
Prepare financial files, records and reports related to assigned activities; prepare files for storage; prepare special financial reports for advisors/sponsors as needed. E
Assist student council with organizing activities; meet with club advisors to assist in organizing upcoming events; coordinate and organize cash boxes for activities and athletic events. E
Communicate with suppliers, vendors, parents and others regarding procedures and related matters; communicate with department heads and administrators regarding student activities, collection of monies, auditing, budgeting and to exchange information; respond to requests for information and complaints as needed. E
Operate a variety of office equipment including a typewriter, printer, copier, calculator, computer, and assigned software; E
Train and provide work direction to student assistants as assigned.
Assist auditors as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:

Balance accounts and reconcile bank statements.
Interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the District and applicable sections of the California Education Code and other applicable laws.

Prepare and maintain financial records and prepare reports.
Collect monies pertaining to student functions.
Operate standard office and store equipment including calculator, typewriter, computer and others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by course work in accounting or bookkeeping and three years general accounting experience.
